Happy Birthday - 13 card

My niece and nephew will be 13 tomorrow, here are their cards I made them.I cut a 5 1/2 by 11" card. scored it at 4 1/4. The Happy Birthday is a Stampin' Up Sizzix die which works great as a landscape card!
I include various other dies as accents from Sizzix.

No power since Sunday - Irene storm

No sooner had I posted last Sunday August 28th post ...we then lost power at 9:10 AM!
Here is why - a tree fell on our power lines and then two subsequent poles fell which took out our cable and phone. So here is where we stand still.... a moment in time.
I am at my sisters for the afternoon using her internet for the day.

Keep the faith

I created this card set (set of 3) with the SU set and a Martha Stewart border punch.
I double mounted the image and then the mat to give it twice the dimensions, the image is also inked along the outer edge.

Birthday card using OWH sketch

This is the matching card for the photo holder in the previous post.
Card stock and sentiment from SU, paper from Mind Minds Eye, lace from Joann's craft store.

I started using the OWH S&S sketch - love that they give you the measurements!

I added the Happy Birthday sentiment to follow Sentimental Sundays challenge and framed the circle sentiment with lace to assist in completing the challenge at CRAFTS and Me.

Photo display wooden cube

I needed a break from working on my walls for the day (preparing them so I can paint soon) and needed to make a gift for a friend of mine, whose birthday is today. I was suppose to baby sit for her tonight so she could go out to eat with her husband - but with Irene dropping a lot of rain on us it was postponed. Gave me time to create some items for her!

I first painted the wooden cube with Americana brown rust acrylic paint.
Mod Podge 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" pattern paper (MME Bella Bella) (inked edges as well).
Added beads to the photo holder wire to accent it.

Next to make a matching card!

Jean Journals

I saw this idea online of repurposing old jeans into a book or journal and couldn't wait to make them. When I find the woman's name I'll edit this post.
I was actually looking for book binding techniques as I wanted to make small journals to sell at a fair I will be doing in the fall.
I cut up card stock and old jeans, binding the pages to the jean and added beads for accents (the woman online did not add beads) I love the dangle of beads!

They a lot of fun to make and may be adding different elements to them. [click the pictures for better viewing]

Vera Bradley mini notebook

I was cleaning last weekend and came across this receipt holder from VB. It was of great thickness of card stock and was large enough to make a mini notebook for my daughter who is a huge VB fan!
Finish size is 4" x 5.5". Used my cinch to bind it. You can see the video here.
I'll be mailing this tomorrow along with a crochet necklace as well, she is almost done with her summer session a NU and then she will have a 2 week break before the fall semester begins!!

gift bag with gift tags

I am entering this in at a challenge that we had to make a gift or a present or a tag (but no cards) so at ABC Christmas, they are on the letter P is for present.

Here is my creation:
Box is a pdf I purchased from My Scrap Chick, handle is a border punch from SU, present stamp is from SU, the array of tags is also from SU. I made over 20 tags to go inside this gift bag.
Entering this creation in CRAFTS and ME - anything goes

Created this card to get a jump on Christmas, I used the sketch from Card Patterns #127

I started with the Spellbinders die to cut the scallop circle and ran it through the SU embossing folder (Square Lattice), I then used the new Lace border punch also from SU as the layer on the circle. Using a couple SU stamps I created the tag for the front and the presents on the inside. Rounding it out with Martha Stewart glitter and the pine branches.

This will also be entered in One Stop Craft - sentiment is the focus, Cute Card Thursday - no designer paper and the color theme of red at All Sorts (inside)

thanks

Made this card for my sister who looked in on our cat and watered our garden while we were gone on vacation.
I use the sketch from Clean & Simple and the theme of in a Garden at Sentimental Sunday and Kaboodle Doodle.
Images from SU as well as the sentiment, border punch from SU

Fingerless mittens

My good friend Terry made these for me! I believe the knitted pattern was from Ralvery.
She knows that I work in the basement of my home and in the winter time my fingers get cold.
The yarn is from Webs (washable wool) and she knitted me a pair of these fabulous mittens. I chose a green sherbert color thinking the winters could use some happy color!

Thanks Terry!

Crochet Necklace #3

I asked my SIL to pick up this wonderful yarn at Webs and wanted to use it specifically for the crochet necklaces I am doing.

Here is a close up the main part - crochet three strands into one.
Here is a close up the clasp and special heart beads I bought at Beadniks in Martha's Vineyard.

I chose this hue of purple and pink and made this last night while in our hotel room. Strangely enough it matched the top I wore home today!
